The Dexter Track & Field team traveled to Allen Park on a cold and at times rainy Saturday to compete in the Allen Park Co-Ed Relays. The Dreadnaughts finished 3rd overall with 71 points in the 24 school field with only Lake Orion (109) and Woodhaven (105) finishing ahead of them.
Each school entered two members from their girls team and two members of their boys, then combined either their times or best marks for each event to have a total. The team with the best total won the event.
Starting with the field events, throwers Robert Karageorge, Jacob Alvarado, Kera Root, and Jizzelle Spence won the Discus throw relay with a combined total of 422 ‘7” , and came in 2nd in the Shot Put relay with a total of 128’ 8.5”. Pole Vaulters Anthony Delarca-Hernandez, Charles Baker, Allie McKaig, and Madelyn Simons finished in 2nd place with a jump total of 35’ 6” , and High Jumpers Amarkus Royce Gavin Heichel, Alexis Gramling, and Larkin Pham 3 finished 3rd with a total of 19’ 9”. Rounding out the jumping events, Dexter Long Jumpers Noah Boyce, Hudson Sutter, Pham, and Tylee Jensen finished the day in 8th with a mixed Long Jump relay total of 58’ 5”.
The first race of the day was the 2 mile cross country relay that combined the track and a cross country course around the stadium. Dexter runners Caleb Snyder, Coen Hill, Kodie Snyder, and Annabel O’Haver won the event clocking a combined time of 47:42.50. Continuing with more distance relays, the Mixed DMR 4000 relay team with Landon Whitehead, Claire Gibson, Kodie Snyder, and Hill finished 3rd with a combined time of 11:58.30, and the Mixed DMR 3600 of Scott Smith, Amelia Cribbins, O’Haver, and Caleb Snyder won the event running a total time of 10:44.86.
In the sprint relays, Dexter placed 7th in the Mixed 4x100m relay with the team of Connor Kril, Josh Graybill, Raiden Kipfmiller, and Maddy Church with their time of 49.36, and the Mixed 4x200m Relay was 3rd. Dylan Darby, Mitchell Ward, Claire Steinbrecher, and Kipfmiller crossed the tape with a time of 1:43.82. Vivian Schoen, Debbie McCoy, Noah Boyce, and Owen Waters were the team members that ran 1:23.25 in the Mixed SMR 600m Relay, good enough to finish 7th. The final event that Dexter placed in was the 300 Hurdles Relay. Owen Sorter, Collin Roller, Alexis Gramling, and Giuliana Biundo were also 7th, finishing the relay running 3:07.69.
