County Crime Blotter: Crime increases across Dexter/Scio Township

Crime ramped up last week in both Dexter and Scio Township with three assaults, two vehicle break-ins and two burglaries between the two areas.

Both vehicle break-ins occurred on Monday, Feb. 5, and purses were the item of choice for the crook(s). One vehicle was robbed between 3:30-8:30 p.m. at the 2800 block of Baker Rd. and the other in a parking lot at the 7200 block of Jackson Rd. at 6:55 p.m. Windows were broken out in both cases to gain entry into the cars. No suspect has been identified in either larceny.

In the first of the two burglaries, the suspect entered an apartment at the 400 block of Talon Dr., on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7:28 p.m. Once inside, he or she realized the unit was occupied and fled without taking anything. The suspect is known and the investigation is ongoing.

At this point, it is unknown whether or not anything was taken in the second burglary which occurred on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 9 p.m. at a business at the 3500 block of Jackson Rd. A small glass window was knocked out for the criminal to gain entry, but employees are still going through inventory to see what, if anything, is missing.

Two female coworkers with a history of feuding got into it on Wednesday, Jan. 31, around 2:15 p.m. at the 700 block of Baker Rd. What started as a small argument, escalated into a physical fight featuring hitting, grabbing and scratching. A 60-year-old woman from Dexter is the known instigator, but both women left with minor injuries including scratches.

A domestic assault took place that same day at the 7900 block of Chamberlin Rd. at 7:21 p.m. The attacker is a 21-year-old male from Pinckney. The victim procured no injuries and he was not arrested.

Another domestic assault transpired on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:22 a.m., at the 300 block of Chestnut Blvd. A 26-year-old female from Ann Arbor was the aggressor and she was not arrested. The victim sustained no injuries.
