Dexter Graduates Organize Town Hall on Gun Violence Prevention

Class of 2017 Dexter High School graduates Julia Bell and Gianna Eisele have organized a Town Hall on preventing mass shootings for this Saturday, April 7th, 1:00 pm at the Dexter District Library.

The community meeting is part of the national Town Hall For Our Lives effort which is an extension of the March For Our Lives event that took place on March 24th. After attending March For Our Lives in Detroit, Julia and Gianna were inspired to keep fighting to prevent gun violence and mass shootings in the U.S.

In a follow up to the successful March 24th event, organizers have called for Town Hall meetings in congressional districts across America as a follow-up event to keep momentum on a rising national concern. Rep Tim Walberg and Gretchen Driskell have been invited to attend and candidate Steve Friday has confirmed his presence at the meeting.

“With the 2018 House of Representatives election nearing, it is important for our candidates to know where District 7 stands on gun related issues,” Julia says. “We are hoping that our community will come together to make our voices heard to our elected officials.”
