June is Men’s Health Month

The purpose of this month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities.

An active lifestyle can help prevent many of the health risk men may experience as they get older. Regular exercise helps to lower cholesterol, lower the risk of high blood pressure, lower the risk of diabetes, maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Being active has many more benefits than those named above, and is an important part of supporting your health and wellness. Make the commitment to your health—to live longer and stronger—fueling your body and combating preventable diseases.
