Astute shoppers can find one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts Saturday, Dec. 1 at WinterBerry Fair, an artisan craft and specialty food sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dexter United Methodist Church, 7643 Huron River Drive, Dexter.
“Nearly everything in our sale is hand-crafted or created. We’ll have more than 40 vendors selling an array of items, from hand-designed note cards, hand-sewn tutus for little girls, coloring books, appliqued pillows, hand-crafted jewelry, ceramics and clay pieces, tote bags, handmade soaps, quilted good, crocheted or knit items and more,” according to Jane Fink, a member of DUMC.
Fink is coordinating the event with Jane Kelly to benefit the women’s ministry and some of its mission work at the church. There also will be hand-made hair bows, watercolor art, walls signs, children’s sweaters and purses.
Discovery Toys will be sold, an exception to the hand-crafted theme of the sale, but included because they are high quality, educational toys that make very nice gifts, Fike added.
New to this year’s event is Food Row, offering specialty foods like soft pretzels, scones, mixed nuts, seasoning mixes, granola and other healthy snacks. There will not be a bake sale this year.
“One of WinterBerry’s biggest draws each year is Granny’s Attic Resale Boutique, featuring older treasures that have been donated to the church. It’s been very popular, and people have found some wonderful gifts there,” she said.
People from the church, including Sharon Broyles on the dulcimer, will provide music during the event.
DUMC’s WinterBerry also has joined Faith in Action’s Dec. 1 “Stuff the Shelves” food drive. Shoppers are encouraged to bring a new, nonperishable foods to DUMC or to St. Andrews Church, 7610 Ann Arbor St., Dexter, for this Faith in Action project.

WinterBerry also is part of the “Dexter Makers Holiday Passport” program. On Dec. 1, there are holiday bazaars or sales at four Dexter locations, Dexter United Methodist Church, St. Andrews Church, the Dexter Senior Center and the Dexter Area Museum. Shopper may pick up a “passport” at any of these locations, get it stamped at each location and then, when fully stamped, turn it in to be entered in a drawing for a gift basket.
