Girls Soccer: A look at the upcoming District matchups for local teams

At 4 p.m. on June 15, the Division 1 girls’ soccer State Finals will kick off on the pitch at Michigan State University. The road to that pitch begins this week for teams all across the state.

The soccer Districts will be held from May 22 to June 1 followed by the Regionals (June 4-8), Semifinals (June 11-12) and Finals (June 14-15).

Division 2

Dexter will be playing in the District 20 tournament hosted by Milan. The Dreadnaughts open on the road at Tecumseh at 5 p.m. on May 23. The winner will play the winner of Milan-South Lyon East at 6 p.m. on May 28. The other side of the bracket features Pinckney vs. Adrian in an opening-round match. The winner will play Chelsea on May 28.

The finals are at 5 p.m. on May 31. The semifinals and finals are at Milan High School.

Division 1

The opening day will eliminate at least one of the local teams as Huron will play Pioneer in an opening-round game. The two rivals square off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at Huron High School. The winner will play at 5:30 p.m. on May 28 against Saline at District host Lincoln.

At 5 p.m. on May 23, Skyline plays at Ypsilanti in another first-round match with the winner playing at 4 p.m. on May 28 against the winner of the Belleville-Lincoln game.

The finals will be at 5 p.m. on May 30. Semifinal and final games are all at Lincoln High School.

Division 3

Not only is Father Gabriel Richard hosting the Districts the Irish also drew a first-round bye. FGR will play at 6 p.m. on May 29 against the winner of the Ida-Michigan Center first-round match. The finals are at 5:30 p.m. on May 31.

Division 4

Ann Arbor Greenhills will face host Ann Arbor Rudolf Steiner at 4:30 p.m. on May 24 in a first-round match of the Plymouth Christian District. The winner will play the winner of the Charyl Stockwell Academy-Ypsilanti Arbor Prep game at 5 p.m. on May 29 at Plymouth Christian. The finals will be at 4:30 p.m. on May 31 also at PC.
