What’s new on the trail: Border-2-Border Trail construction updates

B2B Trail Construction Updates courtesy of Huron-Waterloo Pathways Initiative

Dexter-Chelsea Trail, Freer to Lima Center – The contractor placed the bridge and has completed work on the path grading, placing the stone base. They poured the concrete curb at Dexter-Chelsea Road and removed the existing sidewalks in the Chelsea Ridge Subdivision to build the connection to our path. The paving began on June 17 and is almost complete. In July, the contractor will finish the slope restoration work, pavement markings, fence and install the signs. Look for a trail opening later this summer!

Huron River Drive Trail, Dexter-Huron Metropark to Zeeb Road – The contractor is working on construction of the two temporary and permanent bridges. They plan to start installing the piers in the river for the temporary bridge in early July.

Bandemer Park Tunnel Study and Barton Nature Area – A draft feasibility study has been completed. Once this is study is finalized, preliminary engineering for the project can begin.

M-52 Trail: Green Lake Campground to North Territorial Road Segment; Tunnel Project; and Lyndon Township Trailhead – Pre-construction contract meetings will be scheduled in early July and the construction work will get started on these three elements later this fall.

M-52 Trail Segment, Werkner Road to Green Lake Campground – The Contractor finished the pavement markings and continues to maintain the 240 trees that were planted this spring.
