With Lincoln’s double-overtime victory against Chelsea on Tuesday night, the Railsplitters locked up the SEC White Division boys’ basketball title. Now, Dexter can turn its attention to Friday’s showdown at Chelsea and then onto the postseason.
The Dreadnaughts, coming off a tough loss on Friday to Lincoln, needed a boost before this Friday’s big game against the Bulldogs. And they got exactly that on Tuesday with an impressive 58-50 win at Ypsilanti.
Ypsilanti defeated the Dreadnaughts earlier in the season at Dexter.
“It was an all-around great effort by our guys and a great team win against an always tough Ypsilanti team,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton.
The Grizzlies took a 14-13 lead after one quarter and led 30-25 at halftime. But the Dreadnaughts came out strong to start the second half and cut the lead to 39-38 heading into the fourth quarter. Dexter outscored Ypsilanti 20-11 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory and build some confidence heading down the stretch.
Colin Parachek led Dexter with 22 points. The junior also had eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
His brother, freshman Brennan Parachek, had nine huge points off the bench along with eight rebounds. Senior Bobby Pnacek knocked down two triples and finished with eight points. Sophomore point guard Cal Bavineau dished out five assists to go along with his six points.
Senior Marco Lucchesi also had six points and junior Aidan Dexter had five points in the Dexter victory.
