Swimming: Dexter improves to 2-0 with victory over Tecumseh

The Dexter swimming and diving team knocked off Tecumseh 152-27 last week to improve to 2-0 in the SEC White and 2-0 overall on the young season.

The medley relay team got things off to an impressive start. The team of Charlotte Schultz, Delaney Parker, Emma Sorter and Hailee Waters swam a D-2 state cut time of 1:56.72 to win the medley relay. Dexter’s team of Holly Durand, Natalie Koenn, Theresa Rutz and Dani Schulz was third in 2:03.64.

Dexter swept the 200 free with Maddy Matos first (2:09.47), Laura Walton second (2:13.97) and Gwen Tatara third (2:16.01).

Schultz was second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.37 with Sorter in third (2:32.37) and Parker fourth (2:32.75).

Durand was second in the 50 free (26.89) followed by Marea Balcom (27.14) and Schulz (27.67).

Dexter went one-two in diving with Vivian Kinnard first (234.53 points) and Elysa Grossman second (220.58).

Sorter touched second in the butterfly with a time of 1:07.45. Rutz was third (1:07.70) followed by Blodgett (1:14.57).

Waters clocked in a D-2 state cut time with her 55.01 in the 100 freestyle. Balcom was fourth (59.82) and Angela Castle was fifth (1:03.24).

Schultz won the 500 free in 5:42.65. Alexis TerBush was a close third (6:19.16) and Tatara was fourth (6:19.91).

The Dreadnaughts dominated the 200 free relay. The team of Balcom, Sorter, Schulz and Schultz took first in 1:49.64. The team of Castle, Blodgett, Walton and Tatara was second in 1:55.57. And for those keeping score, the team of Elizabeth Higgins, Elizabeth Young, Paige O’Connor and Alex Seidleck was third in 2:01.87.

Waters won the backstroke in 1:04.42. Matos was third (1:07.55) and Rutz fourth (1:15.29).
In the breaststroke, Koenn had a winning time of 1:16.92. Isa Reyes was third (1:24.38) and Young fourth (1:28.82).

Dexter’s team of Matos, Balcom, Waters and Tatara took second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:59.74.
