Volleyball: Dexter knocks off visiting Huron (see WLD photogallery – 100 photos)

Dexter and Huron met on Thursday night on the volleyball court as part of a quad-meet at Dexter that featured some very good teams, close matches and plenty of digs, sets, blocks and spikes – even an ace or two.

The Dreadnaughts are one of the elite teams, not only in the SEC, but the area while the River Rats are rebuilding a little bit after losing 11 seniors off last year’s team. Huron played their hosts tough, especially in the first game, but Dexter just had too much firepower and won the match in two sets.

The Dreadnaughts won the opener 25-23, then switched gears and took game two 25-16.

“Overall, I am happy with how we competed,” said Huron Coach Toney Cummer. “We have been struggling with consistency this season, but we continue to grow as a team each time out. Our focus has been process over outcome all season.
