Around Town: Special City Council Meeting is tonight (Oct. 19)

Special City Council Meeting

The City Council meeting initially scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2020 has been rescheduled for Monday, October 19, 2020. The meeting will be held at 6:00pm via the Zoom online meeting platform in accordance with State law. City Council agendas and packets can be found on the City’s website at https://www.dextermi.gov/government/cc.php.

Hydrant Flushing

Continuing the week of October 19, 2020 City Utility Department staff  will be flushing hydrants throughout the City. The schedule for this week of flushing is as follows:

Cedars of Dexter and Westridge

As crews flush hydrants there may be some discoloration of the water. Residents who experience “rust colored” water should simply run the cold water tap for a few minutes to clear the household pipes. The rust coloring is caused by a natural buildup of minerals in the water system, which are stirred up in the water pipes when fire hydrants are first turned on. If possible, try to avoid washing white clothes during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Utility Department at 734-426-4572 during the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Thank you for your cooperation during this effort to maintain the quality of your water system.

Public Accuracy Test

Prior to each election, the City is required to hold a public accuracy test of the voting equipment. The test for the November 3, 2020 General Election will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 9:00am at the City Office – 8123 Main 2nd floor.
