Field Hockey: Three Dreadnaughts score spots on 2020 Dream Team

The Michigan High School Field Hockey Association announced the 2020 Dream Team.

The Dream Team consists of 10 field players and one goalkeeper. The make-up of the field players selected to the team feature 2-4 forwards, 3-4 midfielders and 3-4 defensive backs. A player must have been selected to their respective All State Team (D1, D2E, D2W or D3).

This year’s Dream Team featured a sophomore, three juniors and seven seniors. Four athletes – Pioneer senior Zoe Bormet (University of Michigan), Skyline junior Jessica Courtright (Ohio State University), and Dexter seniors Kylee Niswonger (University of Maryland) and Abigail Tamer (University of Michigan) – received their second recognition to the team and all four are headed to the Big Ten after they graduate.

The team features five athletes who led their team in scoring: Tamer (26G ,18A ), Grace Lane (Chelsea – 22G, 9A, Kenyon College), Courtright (11G, 17A), Natalie Millman (Pioneer – 13G, 6A) and Maya Prasad (Saline – 8G, 8A).

There also was recognition of strong defenders amongst this year’s honorees.

Molly Watza (Ann Arbor Skyline) has been a part of the Eagles’ starting backfield for four years. Rachel Gesell (Dexter) and Shae Murphy (Saline) have anchored their defense for three consecutive seasons. Ella Roberts (Pioneer, Byrn Mawr College) has been between the pipes for Pioneer for two straight seasons.
