The Dexter baseball team is hosting a Division 1 District tournament this weekend and the Dreadnaughts didn’t want to miss their own party on Saturday.
The high-powered Dreads scored six runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 10-1 win over Pinckney in a District quarterfinal on Tuesday at Dexter.
Dexter improved to 24-8-2 on the season and will play Hartland at 10 a.m. on Saturday in a District semifinal game. Dexter and Hartland played a doubleheader way back on April 5 with Hartland winning the first game 13-1 and the two teams playing to a 4-4 tie in the nightcap.
Brighton will play Howell in the other semifinal game at 12:30 p.m.
The finals are at 2:30 p.m. All games are at Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts scored all 10 runs against Pinckney in the first three innings, scoring two in the first and four in the second and third innings. They crushed 11 hits while holding the Pirates to just three. Each team had two errors.
Dexter threw three pitchers against the Pirates and all were effective. Cam Rosen had five strikeouts in three innings, Shay Ohtonen had four strikeouts in two innings and Ethan Hochendoner fanned three in two innings in a dominating performance.
Rosen was 3-for-4 with five RBI, Joey Tessmer was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored and Brennan Parachek had two doubles and two RBI. Leadoff hitter Braeden Fuson was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Nathan Deleruyelle had a hit and three walks and Evan Krolewski walked twice and scored twice.
