Soccer: Skyline District sure to put a kick into the playoffs

Are you ready for some football?

No, not that football – REAL football.

The 2021 high school boys’ soccer Districts begin next week and as usual the tournament featuring the Ann Arbor teams promises to be exciting, thrilling and highly competitive – especially from the semifinals on.

Skyline is the host school for the District 5 tournament. The winner of the District tournament will face the winner of District 8 (which includes Plymouth, Canton, Salem) in the Edsel Ford Regional first round at 7 p.m. on Oct. 26.

The first-round District matchups features a Dexter-Saline contest that should be the highlight of the opening round, which begins on Oct. 13. The Dreadnaughts (8-8-2) and Hornets (11-3-4) will play at 6 p.m. at Dexter.

Skyline (11-3-4) will host Jackson (4-11-1) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13. And Huron (7-4-3) will play at Lincoln (1-14-2) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The semifinals should be both exciting and interesting. Pioneer awaits the winner of the Huron-Lincoln game at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at Skyline. The first game of that double-header at Skyline will feature the Skyline-Jackson winner vs. the Dexter-Saline winner and begins at 5 p.m.

The finals are at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Skyline HS.
