Girls Basketball: Districts tip off this week as Dexter begins playoff run Wednesday

And we’re off …

A few days before the March Madness of basketball officially kicks into gear, girls’ basketball will tip off the postseason on Monday (Feb. 28) with first-round District games.

Both Dexter and Huron are hosting Division 1 District tournaments this year and both should be competitive runs for titles.

Dexter is hosting District 17 with Skyline taking on Brighton in the only first-round action on Monday. The winner of that game will advance to play a very strong South Lyon East (18-2) team at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The other semifinal game will be at 5:30 with Dexter playing South Lyon.

The Dreadnaughts finished the regular season with an 18-2 record and an SEC Red Division title.

The District 17 finals are at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Huron is hosting District 18 and the River Rats will face Saline (15-5) in a first-round game at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The winner will play Belleville on Wednesday. Ypsilanti will play Lincoln in the other first-round game with the winner advancing to play Pioneer at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pioneer finished the regular season with a strong 12-6 record.

The District 18 finals are at 7 p.m. on Friday.
