To even stay in the game with formable Dexter, the Skyline offense was going to have to stay on the field, and when it became clear that wasn’t going to happen, it was game over – in a hurry.
Going three and out on every possession until midway through the second quarter – when the Eagles finally picked up a first down (and they needed four downs to do it) – gave the Dexter offense half a field to work with and this team can score in bunches going the distance, let alone starting on their opponent’s side of the 50.
Dexter led 31-0 after the first quarter, 45-0 at halftime and 59-8 when the scoreboard hit zero. The Dreadnaughts improved to 2-0 on the season while the Eagles fall to 0-2.

Cole Cabana, who ran for 237 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-21 win over Grosse Pointe South in week one, scored four touchdowns – all in the first quarter – against the Eagles, including one on a punt return. The senior had 77 yards rushing on just 11 attempts to lead the ground game.
Sophomore Connor Robeson had six carries for 32 yards and a second-half touchdown, and Daniel Delduca had two carries for eight yards.
Quarterback Reeves Taylor didn’t have to do much. The senior completed 8 of 10 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Joey Tessmer had another huge game for Dexter. The senior, who had four receptions for 90 yards and two scores in the win over GPS, had five catches for 66 yards and a nice TD catch and run in the second quarter. Wyatt Novara had one catch for 18 yards.

The Dreadnaughts started the game forcing a Skyline put after three downs and Cabana’s punt return brought the ball onto the Eagles’ side of the field. The U-M commit then ran it in from 3 yards out to make it 7-0 with 8:37 left in the first quarter.
After another three and out, the Dreads again took advantage of excellent field position. Cabana scored again, this time from 2 yards out, to make it 14-0 with 6:09 left in the quarter.
On their next possession, the Eagles didn’t even make it to three downs. Dexter’s standout defensive back Micah Davis recorded his second interception of the young season and set up the offense at the 13-yard line.

This time, however, the Eagles kept the Dreadnaughts out of the end zone. Gerzon Herter kicked a 20-yard field goal to make it 17-0 with 4:39 left in the first quarter.
Dexter forced another Skyline punt, and this time Cabana returned it into the end zone to push the lead to 24-0 with 2:49 left in the first quarter. The speedy Cabana broke a few early tackles and once he got into the open, he was gone.
Cabana scored his fourth and final TD of the game, on a 6-yard run, with 4 seconds left in the first quarter to give the home team a 31-0 lead.
On the final play of the first quarter, Dexter’s Devon Emrick recovered a fumble. On the second play of the second quarter, Taylor ran it in from 3 yards out to push Dexter’s advantage to 38-0.
Taylor then hit Tessmer on a 36-yard TD play to make it 45-0 with 5:39 left in the first half.
