It’s bright, shiny, spacious and quite spectacular. And it’s the new crown jewel in Ann Arbor.
Lewis Jewelers, the family-run jeweler that has called Ann Arbor home since 1974, recently opened its new retail location near the Westgate Shopping Plaza. They simply outgrew their longtime space on Stadium Boulevard. Ironically, the perfect location for their expanding operation became available just down the street.
The new 10,000-square-foot store is at 300 South Maple Road, in the former Quarter Bistro location located in front of the Westgate Shopping Center.
“Lewis Jewelers takes pride in offering an exceptional yet relaxed fine jewelry and timepiece shopping experience for our customers. Our new store allows our vast jewelry collections more breathing space while our customers will have more store to explore. However, our approach to connecting with each client on a personal level won’t change,” said David Lewis, president of Lewis Jewelers, and 3rd generation jeweler.
The location offers expanded collections from designer partners, including Omega, Hearts On Fire, Breitling, Tudor, and Roberto Coin, to name a few. Lewis Jewelers continues to offer their Lewis custom creations and their new U of M collegiate collection.
In addition to a stress-free shopping experience, the store also offers service consultations, a custom design area, repairs, engraving, and private events.
Lewis Jewelers was founded in Detroit over 100 years ago in 1921 by M.B. Lewis, David Lewis’s grandfather. While in Detroit, the riots in 1968 drastically changed the original location, creating the decision to move to their first Ann Arbor location in 1974 in the Maple Village Shopping Center.
From that date, Lewis Jewelers has embedded itself into the local community through support and donations to many of the local charities and schools.
“Very few businesses have been open for over 100 years, and we are proud to be still family owned and operated,” said Lewis. “Our plans for a grand re-opening in 2021 were thwarted by the impact of COVID, but we didn’t let that get us down. Our customers have been incredibly supportive of us and our dreams for the new store. We attribute that to the fact that we’re always giving back locally and supporting so many great local initiatives. We’re looking forward to a brilliant future.”
