Golf: Pioneers win SEC Red Tournament, Dexter’s Manning fires top score

The Pioneer girls’ golf team teed up an SEC Red Division tournament title on Wednesday at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Pioneer fired a team score of 335 on the day to finish first in the eight-team event.

Dexter and Saline tied for second as both teams shot a 356. Skyline was in the mix as the Eagles fired a 359, just a chip, putt and wedge from catching the Hornets and Dreadnaughts. Lincoln finished fifth (375) followed by Bedford (408), Huron (416) and Monroe (456).

Dexter freshman Avery Manning shot a tournament-best 77. Saline Grace Celso, only a sophomore, shot the second best round of the tournament with a 78.

Junior Alex Ellender and sophomore Kyra Kahan led the Pioneers with an 82. Senior Alysa Zhu carded an 85 while senior Mackenzie Rooney fired an 86. Junior Madison Kohn shot a 113 and junior Jane Slocum shot a 130.

After Manning’s 77, junior Marissa Genske carded an 89 for the Dreadnaughts. Senior Olivia Napolitan shot a 91, freshman Millie Truesdell shot a 99, and senior Sadie VanNatter and sophomore Eleni Michos each shot a 112 for Dexter.

Junior Reva Patchava shot an 82 to lead Skyline. Senior Helen Kucinski carded an 85, senior Val Rutte and freshman Vedha Kakarla each shot a 96, junior Alana Eisman shot a 101 and junior Ali O’Brien shot a 105 for the Eagles.

Freshman Jennifer Tang led the River Rats with a 92. Emmi Conrad shot a 100, Lauren Dubin shot a 110, Aida Baidel shot a 114, Asia Shi shot a 115 and Allison Mi shot a 121 for Huron.
