Saturday’s WCC & You event offers tours, student panels and other opportunities

Community invited to explore WCC, register for classes and meet students

ANN ARBOR – Prospective students and community members are invited to explore the Washtenaw Community College (WCC) campus and academic programs Saturday, April 15. The college’s WCC & You event is designed to give an inside look at all the college has to offer.

The event will be from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the WCC campus, 4800 E. Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor, and is open to everyone – students of all ages, local residents, parents and community partners.

Tours through WCC’s academic divisions will touch on the college’s more than 135 programs offered to prepare students for rewarding careers.

WCC Welcome Center staff will help guide current and prospective students through their applications or class registrations on the spot at the “Xpress Registration” area.

Visitors can learn more about the number of opportunities for adult learners to take classes that accommodate working schedules as well as financial aid. State scholarships such as Michigan Reconnect for students over 25 years old and the new Michigan Achievement Scholarship for graduating high school seniors can help significantly lower the cost of college by thousands of dollars a year.

Student activities, organizations and sports, including Esports, will be highlighted, and current WCC students will be available to talk about their experiences during an interactive Q&A session.

The following informational sessions run every hour on the hour from 9 a.m.–noon. Visitors may pick which sessions they want to attend. Choose from the following:

  • Orientation
  • Academic Advising Group Sessions
  • Student Life presentation
  • Esports Arena tour
  • Financial Aid – what’s available, scholarships, how to navigate
  • Student Panel with Q&A
  • Academic Division Tours – Health Sciences; Advanced Technologies & Public Service Careers; Business & Computer Technologies; Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences; Math, Science & Engineering
