After starting the week with a doubleheader sweep of Skyline on Monday, the Pioneer softball team split a pair on Wednesday with visiting Flint Powers. The Pioneers won the first game 4-2 before dropping the nightcap 12-2.
Pioneer is 3-2 on the young season.

Olivia Guidinger was solid in the circle in the opener for the Pioneers. She struck out 13 batters and allowed just five hits and two runs over seven innings.
Pioneer led 4-0 after scoring in each of the first three innings. Powers scored two in the top of the fourth to cut the lead in half but that was it for the visitors in the opener.
Pioneer had strong productions from the bookends of the lineup card. Leadoff hitter Nona Slater had two hits and a run scored and the No. 9 hitter Emmy Wernimont was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Guidinger (two walks) and Lia Wilson each had a hit and an RBI. Starr Raudenbush had two walks and a run scored for the Pioneers.
Powers broke open a 3-2 game with a six-run third inning to win the second game 12-2.
Slater had two of Pioneer’s four hits in the game. Samantha Markel and Mackenzie Schuitman each had a hit.
Pioneer will host Dexter on Monday in an SEC doubleheader.
