Dexter’s young equestrian team heading to Regionals after strong Districts

For the first time in four years, the Dexter High School equestrian team is headed to Regionals, the qualifying meet to make it to the state champion meet. The group is a three-rider C Team for MIHA District VII.

On Sept. 16 and 17, the Dreads competed at Districts held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds earning themselves District Reserve Champions.

Individual riders each placed in multiple events throughout the weekend, but the highlights included first place in Flag Race by sophomore Blaze Peale, first place in Equitation Over Fences by sophomore Kera Root and second place in Saddle Seat Fitting and Showing by sophomore Abbie Franz.

Regionals will be held at Shiawassee County Fairgrounds on Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023.

Coach Juback said: “I couldn’t be prouder of these girls for all their efforts over the last couple of months. Each member took one for the team, competing in newer events, to contribute to the group’s overall score.  Getting to know them has been rewarding for us coaches and we are so excited to see them grow, not only as riders, but as people and students!”
