Girls Basketball: Bedford holds off Dexter in SEC showdown

In a battle of two of the better teams in the SEC, score one for the Kicking Mules.

Bedford outscored host Dexter 12-5 in the second quarter and led 28-19 at halftime and held off the talented Dreadnaughts in the second half for a 56-40 win on Friday night.

Bedford locked down the game by hitting 11 of 14 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

The Kicking Mules led 16-14 in an evenly played first quarter.

Alena Blumberg had 14 points and Kendall Cabana scored 13 for the Dreadnaughts. Addison Chase had eight points and Heidi Fuchs added five.

On Monday, Dexter played a makeup game with Skyline and knocked off the Eagles 51-13. Ten Dexter players scored in the win. Blumberg led the Dreadnaughts with 17 points. Cabana, Lizzy Lewis and Harper Backus each scored six.

Dexter plays at Huron on Tuesday and at Saline on Friday.
