Swimming: Dexter continues to shine, achieving another state cut on Tuesday

Quad Meet Highlights (Saturday, September 7th): The Dreads faced off against Fenton, Mercy, and Livonia Stevenson in a challenging quad meet. Despite the tough competition, the team earned three personal bests and two season bests.

Meet Results:

  • The 200 medley relay team, consisting of Harper Brown, Rebekah Murillo, Emma Bishop, and Grace McClellan, finished in sixth place.
  • Kayce McAllister placed fourth in the 200 freestyle, with Natalia Rivera finishing fifteenth.
  • In the 200 IM, Brown took eighth, and Elena Ragnes was fifteenth.
  • McClellan secured eleventh in the 50 freestyle.
  • In diving, Ellie Saah finished seventh, Maddie McGuire eighth, and Lexi Gramling ninth.
  • Rebekah Murillo placed ninth in the 100 butterfly.
  • McAllister’s victory in the 100 freestyle earned her the MISCA cut, with McClellan finishing tenth and Smaby eighteenth.
  • Brown came in sixth in the 500 freestyle, and Rivera was eleventh.
  • The 200 freestyle relay team of McAllister, Bishop, McClellan, and Brown finished second, while the team of Ragnes, Emma Wild, Saah, and Rivera took ninth.
  • Murillo finished second in the backstroke, with Ragnes seventeenth.
  • The 400 freestyle relay team of McAllister, Murillo, Rivera, and Smaby placed fourth.

SEC Red Meet Highlights (Tuesday, September 10th): Dexter faced the Skyline Eagles in their first SEC Red competition of the season. Junior Rebekah Murillo earned her D2 state qualifying time in the 500 freestyle. The team achieved four personal bests and six season bests, though Skyline won the meet 126-60.

Meet Results:

  • The meet began with a win for Dexter’s medley relay team of Kayce McAllister, Harper Brown, Murillo, and Emma Bishop.
  • Grace McClellan finished third in the 200 freestyle, with Delia Smaby fifth and Elena Ragnes seventh.
  • Murillo placed second in the 200 IM, and Natalia Rivera finished sixth.
  • McAllister won the 50 freestyle, with Bishop fifth and Emily Weiszhaar eleventh.
  • In diving, Ellie Saah led with a fourth-place finish, followed by Maddie McGuire in fifth and Lexi Gramling in sixth.
  • Bishop finished fourth in the 100 butterfly, with Smaby sixth.
  • Brown took second in the 100 freestyle, and McClellan was fifth.
  • Murillo finished second in the 500 freestyle, with Ragnes sixth.
  • The 200 freestyle relay team of McClellan, Smaby, Bishop, and Murillo finished third, and the team of Weiszhaar, Rivera, Reagan Goldstein, and Ragnes took fifth.
  • McAllister secured her second win of the night in the backstroke, with Weiszhaar finishing fifth.
  • Brown won the breaststroke, with Rivera placing sixth.
  • The 400 freestyle relay team of McClellan, Smaby, McAllister, and Brown finished second.

The Dreadnaughts will be back in action on September 19th, against Saline.
