WCC: New slate of Super STEAM Saturdays announced for local student exploration

ANN ARBOR – A new season of Super STEAM Saturdays offering middle schoolers the chance to explore and learn about science, technology, engineering, arts and math are back at Washtenaw Community College (WCC).

Super STEAM Saturdays occur monthly and are designed with middle schoolers in mind, although younger and older students are welcome. WCC faculty members and leaders from STEM career fields lead activities.

The next activity on October 25 offers a dive into chemistry. WCC instructors Drs. Tracy Schwab and Eric Schwab will lead students through building molecular models of everyday chemicals and equipment and solving mysteries and crimes such as coin counterfeiting.

Other topics focus on exploring human anatomy with the college’s new 3D medical visualization technology, the Anatomage Table; introduction to circuits and coding; and science poetry.

Sessions are free, but registration is required. Most are in person on the WCC campus, with some virtual sessions planned.
