Hockey: Dreadnaughts rally to knock off Jackson Lumen Christi

The Dexter hockey team continues to roll along, improving to12-3 on the season with an impressive 4-2 win over Jackson Lumen Christi.

“We came out and had a really big third period,” said Dexter Coach Donnie Busdeker. “We regrouped in between periods, made some adjustments which made a big difference.

“I was very proud of their effort. This was a win that we wanted and the boys stepped up nicely. It’s a good group and the boys are buying in.”

The Dreads scored with 1 minute left in the first period to tie the game on a goal by Kyle Burke with an assist from Luke Coogan.

Lumen Christi scored a second-period goal to take a 2-1 lead into the final period.
Kyle Knapp tied the game with assists from Logan Eggleston and Trevor Eiesle at 10:09.

With 3:23 left in the game, Ryan Lotz broke the tie with an assist from Coogan.

Burke iced the game with his goal with 59 seconds left to play.

Dexter plays host to Allen Park Cabrini at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Vet.
