Bryce Martin walked and then scored the winning run in the top of the eighth inning as Dexter earned a split with Tecumseh in two well-played pitching duals on a perfect Monday for baseball.
The Dreadnaughts led 1-0 until host Tecumseh tied the game in the fourth. Both teams scored in the fifth inning before Martin’s run in the eighth sent Dexter to a 3-2 victory. Both teams had six hits in the game.
Alex Mills (RBI), David Kreske, Evan Krolewski (RBI), Nate Kniesteadt, Ben Cabana and Zach Gulleckson had the Dexter hits. Kreske and Krolewski had doubles.
The Dreads used three pitchers to pitch this one into the win column. Cabana started and was solid in his 5.2 innings. He allowed four hits, two runs with seven strikeouts. Reed Ladd allowed two hits in 1.1 innings and David Kreske was perfect in his final inning of work.
In the opener, Tecumseh broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 2-0 win. The hosts had seven hits while Dexter had three hits and were perfect in the field.
Jacoby Henry was solid on the hill for Dexter. He allowed two runs, seven hits with seven strikeouts and only one walk in six innings.
Mills, Kreske and Cabana had Dexter’s hits.
Dexter hosts Tecumseh for a single game on Wednesday.
