The Dexter swimming and diving team splash into this weekend taking aim at the school’s 22nd consecutive SEC White Division title – yes, that’s 22 – at home in the SEC Championships.
They warmed up with a 121-62 win last over Tecumseh.
Charlotte Schultz won her first of two individual events with a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.41. Elizabeth Merz was second in 2:05.04.
In the 200 IM, Maddi Matos was second (2:23.65) and Zoe Michos third (2:23.78).
Dexter’s Hailee Waters was first in the 50 free with a time of 25.64. Sam Durrant was third in 26.13.
The Dreadnaughts dominated the diving – again. And it was close at the top with the two Dexter freshman. Vivian Kinnard was first with 249.45 points while fellow frosh Lily Witte was second with 249.10 points. Sophomore Elysa Grossman also had a big day finishing third with 218.65 points.
Dexter’s Emma Sortor was second in the butterfly in 1:05.00, Theresa Rutz was third (1:06.21) and Lauren Witte was fourth (1:06.99).
Schultz won the 100 free in 55.19 with Holly Durand third in 57.68.
The Dreads went one-two in the 500 free with Laura Walton first in 5:48.31 and Marea Balcom second in 5:52.06.
The Dreadnaughts went one-two-three in the 200 free relay. The team of Durrant, Durand, Waters and Schultz won in 1:43.68. The team of Rutz, Balcom, Merz and Walton came in second in 1:51.07. The team of Dani Schulz, Claire Blodgett, Elizabeth Higgins and Angela Castle placed third in 1:52.91.
Matos was second in the backstroke (1:04.55) and Lauren Witte was third in 1:05.08.
Zoe Michos was second in the breaststroke (1:16.73). Natalie Koenn was third (1:17.04) and Morgan Colosky was fourth (1:19.30).
The Dexter team of Waters, Merz, Matos and Schultz was first in the 400 free relay in 3:46.90.
