Golf: Dexter takes third in close three-way battle for second at SEC quad-meet

The Pioneers fired a team score of 168 to win an SEC quad-meet at Sandy Creek to finish the conference schedule with an undefeated record. Monroe took second (197), Dexter was third (198) and Pinckney fourth (199) as just two strokes separated the final three teams.

Sophomore Mackenzie Rooney shot a 39 for low score of the day to lead Pioneer. All six players broke 50 in the dominating performance. Senior Amaya Melendez shot a 40; sophomore Alysa Zhu shot a 44; senior Jillian Giordano shot a 45; and freshman Alex Ellender and junior Hayley Marchand each shot a 48.

Dexter’s Olivia Naylor had a strong round for the Dreadnaughts. The junior shot a team-best round of 43.

Dexter had four players in the 50s: junior Hannah Finch (50), junior Clare McCormick (52), junior Gaby Matos (53) and senior Julianne Browning (59). Junior Camryn Chase carded a 62.
