Football: Dreadnaughts bounce back by bouncing Adrian 54-0

While no one is going to confuse Adrian for Chelsea, the Dexter football team came out on Friday night and made a statement that could be heard all around the SEC. The Dreadnaughts are still on course for big things in 2020 and anyone who doubted that only need to look at the scoreboard down in Adrian.

Not only did Dexter put up 54 points on that scoreboard but they kept the Maples off of entirely – it’s like hitting a few grand slams and pitching a no-hitter at the same time.

Whatever analogy you want to use or however you want to add it up, Dexter bounced back from its tough 35-12 loss to Chelsea on opening night of this shortened season with a 54-0 win at Adrian.

The Dreadnaughts stay on the road for the third straight Friday when they travel to Tecumseh for another SEC White Division game. The Indians have given up 95 points in their first two games – you can hear the Dexter offense already revving up the engines for this one. Yes, Tecumseh is 0-2 after losing to Jackson (44-20) and Pinckney (51-34) – both playoff teams from a year ago (as was Dexter).

Dexter led 14-0 on Friday at Adrian and stretched the lead to 27-0 by halftime. They took a 40-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

The offensive numbers were off the chart. Quarterback Colin Parachek was 16 of 17 passing for 224 yards and two touchdowns. His only incomplete pass came on a Hail Mary throw at the end of the first half. Other than that, the senior QB was perfect on the night.

Cole Cabana had a monster game for the Dreads. Only a sophomore, Cabana turned 16 carries into 136 yards and three touchdowns.

Colin Parachek had four carries for 13 yards and a score, Noah Drummond had three carries for 15 yards and Cal Bavineau had one carry for 19 yards and a score.

On the receiving end, Cabana had 108 yards on six carries. Doing some quick math shows that Cabana had 244 all-purpose yards which adds up to a HUGE game.

Junior Braeden Fuson had six catches for 66 yards and a TD, Brennan Parachek had two catches for 21 yards, Bavineau had a 12-yard catch and Camden Markel caught a 10-yard pass.
