The Dexter boys’ swimming and diving team are off to a splashingly great start – if you consider perfect “great.” The Dreadnaughts opened the season with a tri-meet on Dec. 14 and knocked off Milan 96-80 and Chelsea 136-43. On Thursday, the Dreads improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 140-33 win over Lincoln in an SEC White Division dual-meet at Wylie.
In the win over the Railsplitters, Dexter started strong with a one-two finish in the opening medley relay. The team of Stuart Bovich, Adam Hauser, Dylan O’Connor and Matthew Resende took first place in 1:46.84. The foursome of Jack Haidl, Adam Bergen, Tristan Lorincz and Jack Potsos took second in 2:00.64.
Lucas Greatorex won the 200 free in 2:03.93 and Owen Ragnes was third in 2:15.61.
Bovich was second (2:16.09) and Bergen third (2:22.40) in the IM.
Dexter took the top three spots in the 50 free with Hauser first (23.89), Potsos second (25.27) and Haidl third (25.98).
Cole Warren took first in diving with 263.75 points. Shane Walton was second with 95.45 points.
Dexter again took the top three spots, this time in the butterfly. Resende finished first (56.88) followed by Hauser (1:00.25) and Eric Smaby (1:07.52).
In the 100 free, Dylan O’Connor took second (53.54), Lorincz was third (56.57) and Haidl fourth (56.59).
Dexter went one-two in the 500 free with Bovich touching first in 5:35.00 and Liam MacNeil second (6:01.42).
The foursome of Greatorex, Hauser, Smaby and Haidl won the 200 free relay in 1:38.46. The team of Ben Curtis, Dveon Durliat, MacNeil and Owen Ragnes took second in 1:49.36.
Dexter took the top three spots in the backstroke with Resende first (59.84) followed by O’Connor (1:02.39) and Travis Fitch (1:06.72).
They also took the top three spots in the breaststroke with Lorincz first in 1:16.11 followed by Bergen (1:16.18) and Greatorex (1:21.30).
The team of Bovich, Resende, O’Connor and Greatorex took first place in the 400 free relay in 3:41.66. The team of Curtis, Potsos, Bergen and Lorincz was second in 3:58.86.
Dexter is off for the holidays. The Dreadnaughts return to the pool on Jan. 4 against visiting Monroe at 6 p.m.
