Girls Basketball: Dexter holds Monroe to one point in the first half in win

The Monroe girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Dexter on Tuesday night and must have either suffered from bus lag or left their offense back at home. The Trojans were greeted by the always strong Dexter defense that kept the visitors off the scoreboard in the first period and just one free throw in the second quarter.

Dexter led 8-0 after one and 24-1 at halftime. Could have warmed up the bus at that point.

The Dreadnaughts cruised to a 50-9 win in the SEC contest. Monroe’s first field goal came in the third quarter.

Alena Blumberg and Chloe Perry both reached double figures in scoring despite limited action in the win. Blumberg hit three triples and finished with a game-high 16 points while Perry made two triples and scored 15. Alyssa Gullekson had seven points and Kendall Cabana scored six for the Dreads.

Dexter hosts Pioneer on Friday night.
