Girls Basketball: Slow start dooms Dexter in loss to Saline

The Dexter girls’ basketball team got off to a rough start and it ended up costing them. The Dreadnaughts fell behind 13-2 after the first quarter and 27-7 at halftime and could never recover against a talented Saline team. The Hornets headed back home with a 49-29 win over the Dreads.

Dexter had its best quarter of the night in the third as they outscored Saline 15-6 to cut the deficit to 33-22 heading into the fourth quarter. But the Hornets made four triples in the final quarter to help thwart any kind of comeback by the home team.

Saline knocked down 11 triples in the victory.

Chloe Perry led Dexter with nine points. Alena Blumberg scored seven, Heidi Fuchs scored six (two triples) and Addison Chase scored five for Dexter.

The Dreadnaughts play at Skyline on Thursday.
