Girls Basketball: Dreadnaughts knock off Monroe with Districts next week

The Dexter girls’ basketball team will be heading to Districts next week and there is still time to get their house in order. The Dreadnaughts did some house-cleaning on the road Tuesday with a 62-25 win over host Monroe in an SEC game.

Dexter opened the game with a 24-2 first quarter and never looked back. They led 40-10 at halftime.

Three Dexter players reached double-figures in the win despite none of the three playing in the fourth quarter. Chloe Perry scored nine points in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 19 points for the visitors.

Addison Chase knocked down two triples in the first quarter and finished with 14 points. Alena Blumberg scored all 13 of her points in the first half.

Kendall Cabana and Alyssa Gullekson each scored five.

The Dreadnaughts play at Chelsea on Friday night. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. with the boys game at 7 p.m.

Dexter opens Districts at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 against Huron at Skyline. Pioneer will play Skyline at 7 p.m., in the other semifinal. The finals are on March 1 at 7 p.m.
