Cross Country: Dexter opens season under the lights in Livonia   

The Dexter boys and girls cross country teams opened their season at the Lamplighter Invitational in Livonia on Aug. 18. And both teams found success under the lights in Livonia.

The girls team finished fifth overall out of 21 teams with 201 points. Romeo took first with 59 points followed by Brighton (76) and Northville (107). 

Dexter junior Alena Blumberg finished in 16th place in 19:30.4. Also running strong for Dexter were Addison Bruckman (29th, 20:15.5), Annabel O’Haver (44th, 20:47.5), Kate Varitek (57th, 21:06.2), Kodie Snyder (64th, 21:09.6), Olivia Shaieb (73rd, 21:30.7), Hannah Sisson (74th, 21:32.7), Hannah Bougher (97th, 21:51.7), Ella Mitchell (110th, 22:11.3) and Addison Streetman (116th, 22:16.6).

The boys also finished fifth with 169 points. Northville took first with 56 points followed by Romeo (90) and White Lake Lakeland (124). 

Senior Brandon Anderson led Dexter with a sixth-place finish time of 16:01.4. Caleb Snyder ran to 21st-place finish in 16:39.7, Julian Linebaugh was 36th in 17:20.3 and Scott Smith was 50th in 17:34.4 as Dexter had four runners crack the top 50. Cole Doty ran 63rd in 17:59.3, Jack McCalla was 71st in 18:10.3, Andrew Gafford ran 75th in 18:15.5, Charlie Munson was 89th in 18:48.5, Elijah Smith ran 90th in 18:49.6, and Sam Gibson was 100th in 19:15.8.
