Swimming & Diving: Eagles honor seniors, fall to Saline in dual-meet

The Skyline boys’ swimming and diving team honored Zander Barr, Lucas Caswell, Albert Gu, Luke Jordan, Chris Kurniawan, Phil Trampler, and Andi Xi for their service to the program and exemplary careers on Thursday evening as part of the team’s Senior Night celebration.

This group of seniors has performed with tremendous effort over their time as Eagles and both individual and team accomplishments have followed, including contributing to Skyline’s most recent swim & dive State Championship!

On Thursday night the Eagles fell to Saline, 109 – 77.

In addition to honoring the seniors, highlights of the meet included Skyline winning the 400 Free Relay in a dramatic race, Kurniawan earning his 2nd State Cut in the 100 Fly, and Caswell, Stuart Knight, and Owen McKelvey winning their respective individual events comfortably.

The Eagles finished 1st in the 400 Free Relay (Caswell, Xi, Sawyer Thompson, McKelvey), and 2nd in both the 200 Medley Relay (McKelvey, Xi, Caswell, Thompson) and the 200 Free Relay (Kurniawan, Robby Shannon, Connor Zillich, Wesley Jenkins).

Top 5 individual finishes were recorded by Burak Aricioglu (100 Brest-5th), Caswell (200 IM-1st, 100 Fly-1st), Jordan (100 Fly-4th), Knight (Diving-1st), Kurniawan (200 IM-2nd, 100 Fly-3rd), Aidan Mazza (100 Breast-3rd), McKelvey (200 Free-1st, 100 Back-1st), Thompson (50 Free-4th, 100 Free-4th), Xi (500 Free-2nd, 200 Free-3rd), and Zillich (200 Free-4th, 500 Free-5th). Additionally, huge time drops were recorded by Jenkins (200 Free), Jordan (50 Free), Kurniawan (200 IM), Mazza (100 Free), and Shannon (50 Free
