Swimming & Diving: Dreadnaughts push off to win over Monroe in SEC dual-meet

The Dexter Women’s Swim and Dive Team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Monroe High School 105-81 for their second win of the season. Due to ongoing delays in the reopening of the Dexter Community Pool, the Dreads traveled to Monroe for the meet, where the lack of starting blocks meant all events had to start with push-offs from the water.

The Lady Dreads won 11 out of 12 events.

Despite the push starts, Kayce McAllister achieved her fourth state cut of the season in the 200 IM. Harper Brown and Elena Ragnes both set personal records in the 500 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle, respectively. The relay team of Brown, Rebekah Murillo, Emma Bishop, and McAllister secured victory in the medley relay, while Ragnes, Grace McClellan, Delia Smaby, and Emily Weiszhaar finished in fourth place.

McClellan won the 200 Freestyle, with Ragnes fourth. McAllister won the 200 IM, with Weiszhaar in fourth. Brown won the 50 Freestyle, with Bishop close in second and Sydney Collins back from injury, in fourth.

The Dreads swept the diving competition, with Ellie Saah finishing first, followed by Jill Kinnard, Lexi Gramling, Maddie McGuire, and Reagan Goldstein.

In the 100 Butterfly, Rebekah Murillo finished first, while Smaby finished Third. McAllister won the 100 Freestyle, followed by Weiszhaar in fifth. In the 500 Freestyle, Brown won, with Bishop second.

Dexter’s relay team of McAllister, Weiszhaar, Brown and Bishop won the 200 Freestyle Relay. Additionally, divers Saah, Goldstein, Jane Winkler and McGuire teamed up for fourth place.
